Required Education and Experience

Francophone Stream

La Coalition ontarienne de formation des adultes (COFA) is the MTCU funded umbrella group that supports French-speaking literacy and basic skills providers in community-based, school board and college francophone programs. COFA support takes the form of coordination, communication and networking for Francophone literacy agencies.

Education and experience requirements to work in a francophone stream college program

  • University degree
    • Degree in area of instruction preferred (math, science, French)
  • Provincial teaching certificate preferred
  • Experience teaching in an adult environment (two to three years)

Education and experience requirements to work in a francophone stream community-based program

  • Post-secondary or equivalent experience
  • Excellent knowledge of French language (oral and written)
  • Experience in adult education and literacy

Education and experience requirements to work in a francophone stream school board program

  • Completion of university degree preferred
    • Preferred areas of specialization
      • Adult basic education or literacy education
      • French language arts
  • Provincial teaching certificate preferred
  • Previous experience teaching adults preferred (one to two years)
