CLO's Lifelong Learning for Literacy Practitioners

Training Opportunities

Introduction

The second section, "Skills Specific Training", is organized around the nine key skill areas of the Self-Assessment Tool. Each skill area will include a list of training opportunities that will help practitioners achieve their lifelong learning goals. The nine key skill areas are:

  • Adult Learning and Learner
  • Teaching Methods and Strategies
  • Learner Assessment and Referral
  • Effective Communication Strategies
  • Program Development and Administration
  • Continuous Improvement Performance Management System (CIPMS)
  • Employment Ontario
  • Essential Skills
  • Using Technology

The third section, "Other Training Opportunities", moves from the opportunities that focus on the nine key skills areas to a sampling of organizations that offer training or directories of training for other skills that can be relevant to literacy practitioners.

The fourth section, "Accredited Training", gives an overview of accreditation opportunities for literacy practitioners. It includes detailed information about courses and programs offered through colleges and universities via distance education and online.

The Training Opportunities module of Community Literacy of Ontario's Lifelong Learning for Literacy Practitioners website provides invaluable information for literacy practitioners. In one convenient module, this website contains a wealth of training opportunities arranged in categories that practitioners will find easily accessible and useful.
